The Rathskeller Wine Bar and Bistro opened in December 2013. It is a family owned and run venture. The Bistro is located in The Hanse House is in an area previously utilised by Trading Standards, whilst the wine bar was used as a storage space, although you wouldn’t think so looking at it now!
Carefully selected furniture and décor, accompanied by great views of the river and the exposed timbers of the crown post roof have resulted in the perfect environment for fine dining; whilst the outdoor seating area takes full advantage of the quayside location. Lunch and dinner are served daily, with a roast on Sundays.
Featuring oak panelling with copper accents, the wine bar has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, offering a wide range of refreshments both if you are dining in the bistro or calling in to socialise with friends over a few drinks. In addition to hosting live music events there is also an open mic night on the last Friday of every month, when anyone is welcome to come along and perform!
The Rathskeller has a handpicked wine menu to suit all tastes. We offer a variety of excellent and popular real ales, lager and bottled beers and a comprehensive spirit selection. Our Bar staff are more than happy to mix your favourite cocktail too.
The Bistro offers a freshly cooked menu of the finest homemade dishes using prime Norfolk produce. We source seasonal ingredients from local suppliers where possible, so the menu changes on a regular basis, with a variety of daily specials too. The Bistro offers a relaxed dining experience for everyone whatever the occasion. It is recognised not only for its fine food, but also for its friendly atmosphere and good service, nothing is too much trouble.
